We at Wise Water Use are very saddened about the passing of J.B. Heperi Smith.

You didn’t need to be in his company long to realise what a special person he was.

As a leader he radiated calmness and love. He was both learned and wise - two things that don’t always go together.

J.B. was a man who lived his principles.

The traditional knowledge he shared with Wise Water Use members and supporters demonstrated the close link between modern environmental studies and knowledge learnt from 100’s of years of study of the environment by Tangata Whenua.

J.B. served the people and the planet till he could no more.

Our hearts go out to J.B’s whanau and all who loved and admired him.

Rest in peace J.B.
